first edition. A compilation of 4 French Florida narratives from the 1560s. "One of the earliest and rarest books relating to Florida . . . notable for its account of the French settlement at Fort Caroline at the mouth of the St. John's River, and for the account of Ribault's Massacre and the reprisal by Gourgues. The work also contains one of the earliest accounts of the Indians of the Southeast"--Streeter sale II:1170.
